Nelson Lakes National Park
Nelson Lakes National Park is located in the northernmost ranges of the Southern Alps. Although best-known for it’s lakes both large and small, this 102,000 hectare park offers tranquil beech forest, craggy mountains, clear streams, open tussock lands and river-edge clearings.
StArnaud is the gateway to Nelson Lakes National Park. From this alpine village on the shores of Lake Rotoiti, a network of tracks explore the lake edge and the Park’s glacial features and beech forests. Both short walks and full day walks are possible, making St Arnaud an ideal place for walkers of all ages and abilities.
